Action Research Outline

My action research outline investigates how utilizing AI tools can enhance ninth-grade students' writing skills. By integrating AI into the curriculum, the study aims to improve writing through personalized feedback and support for regular practice and reflection. Employing a mixed-methods approach, the research combines quantitative data from standardized tests and rubric scores with qualitative insights from student surveys and teacher observations.

My literature review analyzes the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) writing tools in secondary English education, focusing on their effects on student writing quality, self-efficacy, and teaching practices. It highlights both the benefits and challenges associated with adopting AI tools in the classroom.

Contribution to Your Learning and the Learning Community

My journey through the Applied Digital Learning (ADL) master's program has been transformative and enriching. It has challenged my preconceived notions about learning and inspired me to adopt a more dynamic and adaptive approach to my personal and professional development. This term in the Assessing Digital Learning Instruction course (EDLD-5315), I prioritized submitting my discussion responses and replies promptly. I believe that timing is crucial in fostering an environment where my classmates can engage, reflect, and respond effectively. The collaborative group I worked with in previous classes chose to work together again, adhering to the idea that "if it’s not broken, don’t fix it." Using platforms like WhatsApp and discussion boards, I continued to expose myself to a variety of perspectives, which deepened my understanding of the complex challenges involved in digital learning. In particular, I regularly collaborated with Sonia Correa, Nilka Quinones, Katia Soto Hernandez, and Paula Andrea. Each of these individuals played a vital role in our shared learning experience, and I truly appreciate their commitment and insights. Their unique perspectives and expertise consistently inspired me to think critically and explore innovative approaches to our assignments. As I approach the end of the ADL program, I am committed to further developing my collaborative skills. By actively participating and supporting my peers, I aim to make even more significant contributions to both my own learning and the learning community as a whole. I look forward to continuing this journey of growth, collaboration, and discovery with my classmates. Reflecting on my contributions this term, I believe I have earned a score of 90 based on the self-assessment marking guide. My key contributions included meaningful engagement in course readings, active participation in all activities, and providing constructive feedback to my peers. I completed all assignments and met deadlines, which enabled me to support my classmates effectively in their learning journeys.
